The charming township of Santa Ynez is inviting families, friends, and holiday lovers alike to join in a spirited “12 Days of Christmas” scavenger hunt, part of this year’s Santa Ynez Country Christmas festivities! Starting on Small Business Saturday, November 30th and running through January 5, 2025, this free event promises fun for all ages.
The scavenger hunt will guide participants through the cozy streets of the Santa Ynez, where twelve unique “12 Days of Christmas” items are hidden at local businesses. Adventurers can follow clues to discover these treasures within participatingmerchants.
“For some of the hidden items, you will have to think outside of the box, as they are unique and funny: and it helps to know what you are looking for in the 12 days of Christmas song,” said Heather Bedford, chairperson of the event. “One of the main goals of The Santa Ynez Chamber is to drive more customers to the merchants, so this is an exciting project to put together and produce.”
With no time constraints, hunters are welcome to explore the holiday-decorated township at their own pace, enjoying a memorable and magical experience for the holiday season. Perfect for families and friends looking for a merry adventure, the scavenger hunt is a wonderful way to celebrate the season while supporting local shops.

Find the clues below on the locations of all 12 Days of Christmas scattered over the Township of Santa Ynez. Feel free to go at your own pace, post on your social media #SantaYnezScavengerHunt #SantaYnezChamber (but don’t reveal the clues or objects!), look around each store, and have fun!
Each object to find will correspond with the Day of Christmas mentioned. (Hint: If you can’t remember what your true love gave you on each day, Google the lyrics to help you find the object!)

Does it cost anything to participate? No, but you may be tempted to buy something at these fabulous places.
Is there an age requirement? No, but be prepared to think outside the box when looking for the objects. Children are welcome to play along as well!
What if a store isn’t open while I’m hunting? Each store in Santa Ynez is locally owned so some palces may not be open on certain days or in the evenings. Just continue to the next clue to get as many as you can. There aren’t any penalties. The store hours are listed on the clues!
Do I have to do it all at once? No! Go at your own pace, take your time, and look around the stores and discover all that Santa Ynez shopping has to offer.
Is there a prize? The prize is the fun experience of hunting. There may be a little goodie at the end, while supplies last. The object of the game is to have fun, get a little exercise, and spend some time shopping.
What if I don’t understand the clue? We have tried to make them as easy as possible and you may find a hint in the hours listed that the business is open (hint: Google your guess and see if it matches the hours…)

Will there be Scavenger Hunt Specials at the places? That will be up to the individual stores but be sure to tell them that you are on the hunt. They are looking forward to meeting you!
